Bio

Chris is a NYC based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a mission to make music fun again. Believing that mainstream music is currently in a rut, he writes and performs solid rock and roll while incorporating elements of various styles picked up along the way. It’s common to hear a reggae riff and a country swing here and there in his songs.

Growing up in New Jersey, Chris was a part of a few bands throughout high school before studying audio engineering in Florida. Not long after completing school and relocated back in NJ, he again played in a few bands, including filling in on drums for the funky rock band, “13”. He went on to form the band SGB along with a couple friends, which went on to become a local favorite band with a cult-like following.

Chris eventually followed a life-long desire and permanently moved to NYC. He quickly befriended Steven Holder, and the two went on to form “According to Wendy”. Along with various drummers, including ATW’s original Fred Pisciotta, they played many of NYC’s most well known venues, including CBGB, Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, Crash Mansion, Sidewalk Cafe and more.

Chris’ EP “Surfboard”, including the popular self-titled track, was recorded with Steven Holder on bass, Joel Saunders Elmore on harmonica, and Kevin “Kochman” Koch on drums, with all three contributing to backing vocals. The song “Surfboard” is a favorite among fans and has been featured in several videos, such as clothing retailer Johnny O's promotional video.

Chris has recently concentrated on solo acoustic performances which further broaden his style and give the music a more intimate feel. New recordings are in the works, as well as extended show dates in and around NYC. Please remember to subscribe to my mailing list, so you can keep up-to-date with new show announcements!
